An extraordinary young man, a great Aggie, son, brother, friend, possessing of uncommon motivation and poise. David McLeod was a Walton Hall Crew Chief. This Fall would have been his Chief fire. 10 years ago, with little brother in the rearview,

10 years ago, with little brother in the rearview, folks asked "what's Bonfire going to do?" It was always a loaded question; most folks asking assumed for some reason that not playing Texas meant it was over. A lot of folks knew the truth though - that Bonfire began decades before any rivalry game with tu, and always stood for us more than it stood against them.

Still, it was tough to change the minds of folks who had found themselves in the unfortunate position of believing Bonfire was about who we aren't and not who we are. In any event, not without some public finger-wagging, Bonfire marched on. For those so ate up with hate for some has-been Hill Country outfit that they couldn't enjoy the single most extraordinary physical exercise and manifestation of Aggie values, there was this one consolation: if we ever let them play again, we - through the Aggie students - would need to know how to do this thing.

And you can't just start doing it if you don't know how. And you don't know how without learning it and then teaching it, only through doing it. It took 10 years for tu to get "ready" for the Aggies again. The Aggies have always been ready for them - starting as so much of the motivation of Texas A&M does, at Bonfire. Be it now, or some future time, #BTHOtu.

And thank you as always to the visionary leadership of Bonfire-motivated Fightin' Texas Aggie students who once again have proven to be right. For your resolve, courage, and persistence, and most of all, for Bonfire... thanks and Gig 'em! #BuildTheHellOuttaBonfire
