In 2009, before I ever even considered picking up a camera, I commissioned Mikel Duke to take the first Last Shift to make the first “Burn Night” shirts featuring the season’s Stack after the last log was wired in. Since 2010, I’ve taken that photo. It began as a “let’s hurry up and get this done.” Today, these Aggies begin preparing for it hours before it’s taken.
Somewhere in every Last Shift photo, you’ll spot the beetle-black eyes of ACe in somebody’s arms, staring out into the dark with his buddies.
